This beautifully preserved 1898 German fairy tales pop-up book features six lovely illustrations of beloved children's stories, making it a standout piece in the world of antique children's books.

Scheref’s Im Märchenlande takes young readers on a journey through classic fairy tales, brought to life through intricate vintage pop-up book illustrations. The stories include Humpty Dumpty, Puss in Boots, and Little Red Riding Hood, depicted in vivid colors and still fully functional after more than a century. This remarkable condition suggests the book’s original owner took extraordinary care of it—something many of us wish we had done with our childhood books and toys!
Published in Nürnberg by Stroefer in 1898, this edition was notably difficult to find at the time of auction. The only other copy we were able to locate was held in a Berlin library.
